The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on June 30, 2026, issued an amendment to the older notification no. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.), dated August 03, 2001, regarding the Fixation of Tariff Value of Edible Oils, Brass Scrap, Areca Nut, Gold, and Silver.
The following has been stated:
• It has revised the tariff values for specified imported goods under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962, effective from July 01, 2026. The revised tariff values include Crude Palm Oil (US$ 1,190/MT), RBD Palm Oil (US$ 1,197/MT), Crude Palmolein (US$ 1,217/MT), RBD Palmolein (US$ 1,220/MT), Crude Soyabean Oil (US$ 1,260/MT), and Brass Scrap (US$ 7,763/MT).
• The tariff values for gold have been fixed at US$ 1,297 per 10 grams and silver at US$ 1,875 per kilogram, while the tariff value for areca nuts remains unchanged at US$ 10,785 per metric tonne.
• These revised tariff values will be used for the assessment of customs duty on the specified imports.
