The Ministry of Coal (MoC) on June 30, 2026, notified regarding the National Lignite Index with Base year 2021-22 & Representative Prices (in Rs/ton) for May 2026.
Ministry has released the National Lignite Index (NLI) for May 2026, with 2021–22 as the base year, based on the approved index compilation methodology. The index has been calculated using certified production and pricing data submitted by eight lignite sector companies. The notified National Lignite Index and Representative Price (RP) for May 2026 are provided in the annexure and serve as the official benchmark for lignite pricing and related sectoral assessments.
