The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on July 01, 2026, issued a notification regarding the allocation of Short Code ‘1926’ to the Forest & Environment Department, Government of Sikkim, for Forest-Related Helpline.
The following has been stated:-
•The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has allocated the short code 1926 to the Forest & Environment Department, Government of Sikkim, as a forest-related helpline, reaffirming its earlier allocation for Forest Departments across all States and Union Territories.
•The helpline is a mandatory Category-I service, accessible only within Sikkim, follows the Called Party Pays model, and is routed to the designated termination number.
•All concerned authorities have been directed to take the necessary steps for its implementation.
