The Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) on June 30, 2026, notified regarding the Quarterly Identification of Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA) Eligible BOs – June 2026.
The following has been stated:
• CDSL informs Depository Participants (DPs) about the quarterly identification of Beneficial Owners (BOs) eligible for the Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA) facility, based on data shared between CDSL and NSDL as of June 20, 2026. Eligibility is determined for individual, non-resident individual, and foreign national BOs having only one demat account across both depositories (except PAN-exempt accounts) and holding securities with a combined value not exceeding ₹10 lakh.
• It has provided DPs with files containing lists of eligible BSDA accounts, PAN-exempt eligible accounts, accounts with multiple demat accounts, and all BO accounts with their current BSDA status. DPs are required to review these files, unmark ineligible BSDA accounts through the BO modification process where applicable, and inform the concerned BOs accordingly.
• The communiqué also clarifies the eligibility status indicators—Eligible (E), Multiple Accounts (M), and Not Eligible (N)—and notes that eligibility information for opted-out accounts will not be shared from November 2024 onwards.
