The Ministry of Communications (MoC) on July 01, 2026, notified regarding the Allotment of short codes ‘14428’ & '14438' to the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas for the Oil Industry Helpline and the Ujjwala Helpline.
The following has been stated:
• The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has approved the allocation of two PAN-India short codes to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to strengthen consumer support services. The short code 14428 has been allotted for the Oil Industry Helpline, while 14438 has been allotted for the Ujjwala Helpline under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). Both helplines will provide information, consumer assistance, and grievance redressal related to LPG supply and PMUY. They have been designated as Category-I mandatory services, making them accessible through all telecom access service providers across India.
• The services will operate on a Called Party Pays basis (free for callers), with calls terminating at 18002333555 (Oil Industry Helpline) and 18002666696 (Ujjwala Helpline), respectively.
