Labour ComplianceThe Government of Bihar on July 01, 2026, issued the Code on Wages (Bihar) Rules, 2026.

The rules lays down fixation and payment of minimum wages, working conditions, and administrative mechanisms under the Code on Wages. It specifies criteria for determining minimum wages based on family needs, consumption standards, and expenditure patterns, while ensuring that state wages do not fall below the national floor wage.

It defines norms for working hours, overtime, rest days, and wage calculations, including provisions for different workweeks and conditions such as night shifts and hazardous work. It also regulates deductions, recovery of advances, and payment procedures to ensure fairness and transparency in wage payments.

Further, the rules establish the constitution, functions, and procedures of the State Advisory Board, which advises the government on wage fixation, skill categorization, and related matters. Provisions regarding meetings, quorum, tenure, and responsibilities of members are also detailed.

Overall, the framework aims to standardize wage determination, protect worker rights, and strengthen governance through structured administrative and advisory mechanisms.

They shall come into force from July 01, 2026.
