The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for heavy rainfall in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, along with a forecast of strong winds reaching speeds of 80–90 kmph. All non-essential government offices are directed to close early after office hours, while essential services will continue as per departmental decisions. Private offices have been advised to operate on a work-from-home basis.
Government offices in Mantralaya and the Brihanmumbai area are permitted to allow employees to leave early on Monday, July 06, 2026, subject to departmental discretion, especially for essential services and urgent work requirements.
