Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Punjab, on July 03, 2026, issued a notification regarding the amendment of Payment Terms for External Development Charges (EDC).

The following has been stated:-

•The Punjab Government has amended its notification dated December 05, 2025, regarding the recovery of External Development Charges (EDC) and related charges. 

•Promoters must deposit 25% of the total EDC, License Fee, SIF, PR Cess, etc., within 30 days of the demand notice/Letter of Intent. 

•The remaining 75% can be paid either as a lump sum before licence issuance with a 5% rebate on the 75% EDC, or in 6 equal half-yearly instalments with 12% simple annual interest, backed by a bank guarantee or property mortgage/hypothecation. 

•Any default in instalment payment will attract penal interest at 3% above the normal interest rate, while all other provisions of the earlier notification remain unchanged.
