The Ministry of Textiles, on July 01, 2026, issued a notification regarding the extension of the mandatory Jute Packaging Order.
The following has been stated:-
•The Central Government has amended the Jute Packaging Materials (Compulsory Use in Packing Commodities) Order, 2025 under the Jute Packaging Materials (Compulsory Use in Packing Commodities) Act, 1987.
•The validity of the existing order has been extended from June 30, 2025, to October 31, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
•The amendment continues the mandatory use of jute packaging materials for notified commodities for the extended period.
•All other provisions of the original order remain unchanged.
