The Labour Department, Govt. of Bihar on June 30, 2026, issued the Social Security (Bihar) Rules, 2026.
The rules shall come into force on July 01, 2026.
The following has been stated:
• The rules provide for the constitution, composition, tenure, powers, and functioning of the Bihar Unorganised Workers Social Security Board and the Bihar Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, including procedures for meetings, appointment of members and officials, and implementation of welfare schemes.
• They also prescribe procedures relating to Employees' Insurance Court proceedings, appeals, gratuity nominations and claims, registration of beneficiaries, maintenance of records, electronic filing, and payment of benefits.
• In addition, the rules specify the formats, timelines, fees, and administrative procedures for availing social security benefits and ensure digital governance, transparency, and effective implementation of welfare schemes for unorganised workers, building and construction workers, and other eligible employees across Bihar.
