The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) on June 25, 2026, issued a notification regarding the Mid-Term Review investigation concerning imports of “Jute Products” originating in or exported from Bangladesh and Nepal.
The following has been stated:-
•The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) concluded its mid-term review of anti-dumping duties on imports of jute products from Bangladesh and Nepal, finding a sustained decline in export prices and increased imports causing continued injury to the Indian jute industry.
•The Authority determined that existing duties require re-quantification because current dumping and injury margins have changed, while imports continue to undercut and depress domestic prices.
•The review found that the domestic industry continues to suffer losses in production, capacity utilization, sales, market share, profitability, and return on capital despite the existing anti-dumping duties.
•DGTR also observed a likelihood of further injury due to increasing import volumes, excess production capacities in the exporting countries, and continued price suppression in the Indian market.
•Accordingly, the Authority recommended revised anti-dumping duty rates on imports of jute products from Bangladesh and Nepal for the remaining validity period of the existing duty, considering it to be in the public interest and necessary to protect domestic producers and employment.
