The Government of Bihar, on June 30, 2026, notified the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Bihar) Rules, 2026.
The following has been stated:-
•The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Bihar) Rules, 2026, provide a comprehensive framework for implementing the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, in the State of Bihar.
•The Rules prescribe procedures for registration and licensing of establishments, factories, contractors, and other covered employers while promoting digital compliance.
•They strengthen workplace safety by prescribing standards for health, welfare, working hours, occupational safety measures, and accident reporting.
•The Rules also lay down provisions relating to contract labour, inter-state migrant workers, women workers, and welfare facilities to ensure fair and safe employment conditions.
•Additionally, they define the responsibilities of employers in maintaining statutory records, submitting returns, and ensuring compliance with safety and health standards.
•Overall, the Rules aim to improve worker welfare, enhance occupational safety, and create a transparent and efficient labour compliance framework across Bihar.
It shall come into force on June 30, 2026.
