The Government of Rajasthan, on July 02, 2026, issued a notification regarding the Motor Vehicle Tax Concessions under the Naya Safar Yojana.
The following has been stated:-
•The Transport & Road Safety Department of Rajasthan announces tax exemptions to promote cleaner transport under the "Naya Safar Yojana".
•It provides a 100% one-time tax or motor vehicle tax exemption for ten years when registering a new vehicle against a "Certificate of Deposit" for scrapping an old diesel or CNG-run transport vehicle registered before March 31, 2008, within the National Capital Region (NCR) of Rajasthan.
•Existing vehicles of the same category purchased or registered in the NCR also receive a 50% tax concession upon submitting this certificate.
•Outside the NCR, registering a new transport vehicle or transfer of ownership against proof of transfer yields a 100% tax exemption, while purchasing an already registered vehicle offers a 50% concession.
•These concessions apply strictly to vehicles purchased within Rajasthan and require the new vehicle to match the category of the scrapped one.
