Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Mines, on July 03, 2026, notified the Minerals (Evidence of Mineral Contents) Amendment Rules, 2026, further to amend the Minerals (Evidence of Mineral Contents) Rules, 2015.

The following has been stated:-

•The Central Government has amended the Minerals (Evidence of Mineral Contents) Rules, 2015 by introducing a definition for high purity Quartz, specifying it as Quartz containing more than 99.99% SiO₂ with total impurities below 50 ppm. 

•The amendments revise Schedule I to classify Quartz, Felspar, and Mica deposits based on their association with specified minerals or high purity Quartz. 

•Schedule II has also been updated to include Quartz, Felspar, and Mica deposits occurring in pockets, lenses, veins, and pegmatites as a separate category. 

•These changes refine the exploration and classification framework for quartz and associated minerals.

They shall come into force on July 07, 2026.
