The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on July 03, 2026, notified the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Foreign Portfolio Investors) (Amendment) Regulations, 2026, to further amend the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Foreign Portfolio Investors) Regulations, 2019.
The following has been stated:-
•The amendments to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Foreign Portfolio Investors) Regulations, 2019, revise various registration and renewal fees from US dollar-based amounts to Indian Rupee equivalents payable in eligible foreign exchange.
•The changes also introduce the mandatory disclosure of the foreign portfolio investor's date of birth/incorporation or formation details in the registration schedule.
•Further, designated depository participants are required to remit registration and subsequent fees collected in INR to SEBI within five working days in the prescribed manner.
•Additionally, the requirement relating to payment of the fee specified in Part A of the Second Schedule under Regulation 3(2) has been omitted.
They shall come into force on the one hundred eightieth day from July 07, 2026.
