The Government of Maharashtra on July 07, 2026, issued the Maharashtra Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) (Second Amendment) Bill, 2026, further to amend the Maharashtra Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2023.
The Schedule has been amended by inserting three new universities in Part II. The newly included institutions are Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj University at Govandi, Mumbai, Amrutvahini University at Sangamner, Ahilyanagar, and Shree L. R. Tiwari University at Mira-Bhayandar, Thane. The amendment also specifies the headquarters and sponsoring bodies of these universities, thereby bringing them within the regulatory framework of the Maharashtra Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2023.
