The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on July 08, 2026, notified regarding the Introduction of Indian Natural Gas Futures contracts in the NSE Commodity Derivatives Segment.
The following has been stated:
• The NSE has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India to launch Indian Natural Gas Futures contracts in its Commodity Derivatives segment, with trading commencing from July 27, 2026. The cash-settled contracts, traded under the symbol NATGASIND, will have a trading unit of 250 mmBtu and will be priced based on the Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) Gujarat (Dahej) delivery hub.
• The contracts will feature monthly expiries, daily price limits of 6% (extendable to 9% and beyond under specified conditions), and will be settled using the monthly weighted average price of actual IGX deliveries.
• The Exchange has also notified the contract launch calendar up to June 2028, while detailed risk management, clearing, and settlement procedures will be issued separately by NSE Clearing Limited.
