The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), on June 29, 2026, notified amendments to four Indian Standards relating to tee and strap hinges, steel butt hinges, steel back flap hinges, and stainless steel butt hinges under Rule 15(1) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018. The amendments have been formally established and published in the Official Gazette.
The notification introduces Amendment No. 1 to IS 206:2010 (Tee and Strap Hinges – Specification), Amendment No. 3 to IS 1341:2018 (Steel Butt Hinges – Specification), Amendment No. 1 to IS 3843:1995 (Steel Back Flap Hinges – Specification), and Amendment No. 2 to IS 12817:2020 (Stainless Steel Butt Hinges – Specification). All the amendments were established on June 25, 2026.
The Bureau has further specified that the existing versions of these standards without the respective amendments shall remain in force until December 24, 2026, after which compliance with the amended standards will be required.
