Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on May 08, 2026, issued the amendments to the TV Ratings Policy, 2026 – Guidelines for the Regulation of Television Ratings.

The following has been stated:

• The amendments require at least one-third of the Board of Directors of Television Rating Agencies to be Independent Directors with no direct or indirect association with broadcasters, advertisers, or advertising agencies. The establishment survey to estimate the television universe shall now be conducted once every three years, covering at least ten times the number of metered homes. 

• Further, Television Rating Agencies are required to deploy a minimum of 80,000 metered homes, with new agencies required to achieve this within 18 months of registration and existing agencies within 9 months of the notification. 

• Additionally, the amended guidelines have been made applicable to existing TV Rating Agencies, which shall obtain registration under the revised framework within 60 days of the notification.
