The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), on July 3, 2026, extended the implementation timeline of the Solar Systems, Devices and Components Goods Order, 2025 for Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) inverters having a capacity of more than 200 kW. The extension has been granted considering the limited availability of testing facilities and to provide manufacturers additional time to comply with the mandatory registration requirements under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016.
Under the notification, manufacturers of SPV inverters exceeding 200 kW may continue to supply such products based on self-certification until December 31, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The extension applies to Items 4 and 5 of the Solar Systems, Devices and Components Goods Order, 2025, which superseded the Solar Photovoltaics, Systems, Devices and Components Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2017.
The extension is subject to the condition that manufacturers possess valid IEC certificates corresponding to the applicable Indian Standards and test reports from accredited testing laboratories for the specified products. This measure is intended to facilitate smooth implementation of the mandatory quality control framework while ensuring continued compliance with prescribed safety and performance standards.
