Labour ComplianceThe Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on July 07, 2026, has directed all its medical institutions to immediately suspend the use of specific Bupivacaine injections manufactured by M/s Themis Medicare Ltd., following an advisory from the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists regarding reported serious adverse events.

The affected products are:

• Bupivacaine Heavy Injection 0.5% (4 ml)

• Bupivacaine Hydrochloride Injection 0.25% (20 ml)

As a precautionary measure, institutions must:

• Stop issuing and using these products

• Segregate and quarantine existing stock

• Maintain batch-wise inventory

• Report any adverse events or quality concerns to ESIC Headquarters

This action is temporary and precautionary, pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation. Further instructions will be issued based on the findings.
