Finance & Taxation Compliance The Ministry of Finance, on July 15, 2026, has revised the additional excise duty rates on petroleum products, effective July 16, 2026, amending its previous notification no. 06/2026 dated March 26, 2026.

The following has been stated:

• Excise duty on petrol has been revised to ₹2.50 per litre.

• Excise duty on diesel has been revised to ₹15.50 per litre.

The revised rates have been notified in the public interest under the Central Excise Act, 1944, and the Finance Act, 2002, and will take effect from July 16, 2026.
