The National Commodity Clearing Limited (NCCL) on July 15, 2026, issued circular on Scheme of deposit for acceptance of Commodities as Additional Base Capital.
The circular refers to the SEBI Master Circular dated August 4, 2023, along with NCCL circulars on risk management and the scheme for accepting commodities as additional base capital. Based on these, the Clearing Corporation has revised the list of eligible commodities that can be accepted as collateral, along with the applicable haircuts.
As part of this revision, Pepper (Not for Direct Human Consumption – Symbol: PEPPER) has been newly included in the eligible commodities list. This commodity will be accepted as collateral through the pledge/re-pledge mechanism via NERL. Additionally, all commodities accepted as collateral must conform to the same quality specifications as those deliverable under the exchange-traded commodity derivatives contracts.
The updated scheme of deposit and the revised list of eligible commodities, including applicable haircuts, will come into effect from the beginning of the trading day on July 16, 2026.
