Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Delhi Transport Department on July 15, 2026, issued Scheme for Replacement of Old Trucks and Buses with Cleaner Vehicles in Delhi.

The Government of NCT of Delhi has adopted and implemented a scheme formulated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways through the NCR Planning Board to replace old trucks and buses with cleaner BS-VI compliant or electric vehicles. The scheme aims to promote environmentally friendly transportation and reduce vehicular emissions in the National Capital Territory of Delhi and will remain in force for a period of two years, subject to applicable guidelines issued by the Transport Department.

Under the scheme, significant incentives have been provided to encourage adoption. These include a 100% motor vehicle tax concession for eligible new vehicles and a 50% concession for eligible used vehicles, with benefits valid for ten years from the date of registration. Additionally, pending road tax and fitness penalties (over one year old) for vehicles being scrapped will be waived, subject to specified conditions. A complete exemption from registration fees is also granted for eligible new vehicles registered under the scheme.
