The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on July 15, 2026, issued the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Second Amendment) Rules, 2026 to further amend the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Rules, 2014.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Rules, 2014, in rule 33, for sub-rule (1), the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely: -
“(1)(a) Any person aggrieved by an order of the Authorisation Committee under sub-section (6) of section 9 of the Act, may, within a period of thirty days from the date of receipt of the order, prefer an appeal to the respective State Government in the case of States and respective Government or Administrator in the case of Union territories.
(b) Any person aggrieved by an order of the Appropriate Authority under sub-section (2) of section 15 or sub-section (2) of section 16 of the Act, may, within a period of thirty days from the date of receipt of the order, prefer an appeal to the Central Government in the case of the Union territories and the respective State Government in the case of States.”
They shall come into force on July 15, 2026.
