The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), on July 15, 2026, issued a circular informing all ESIC medical institutions that a batch of Cough Syrup manufactured by Saintlife Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has been declared "Not of Standard Quality (NSQ)" based on testing conducted by the Central Drugs Testing Laboratory (CDTL), Hyderabad. The affected batch is OL25629 (DOM: September 2025; DOE: August 2027).
The laboratory reported that the sample did not conform to the manufacturer's specification with respect to the description. Accordingly, ESIC has directed all user units to immediately discontinue the use of the affected batch, withdraw it from medical stores, substores, dispensaries, and patient care areas, and coordinate with the vendor for replacement of the stock or refund, while initiating risk purchase and recovery of testing costs, where applicable.
The circular further instructs all concerned units to initiate action under the relevant terms and conditions of the applicable DG-ESIC Tender/Rate Contract and maintain records of the actions taken to ensure compliance and patient safety.
