The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on July 17, 2026, notified regarding the strengthens Anti-Doping Framework with Enforcement of National Anti-Doping Act, 2022 and Amendment Act, 2025.
The Government has brought into force the National Anti-Doping Act, 2022 along with the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Act, 2025, establishing a comprehensive legal framework to combat doping in sports. These legislations aim to safeguard athletes’ rights, ensure fair competition, and strengthen the integrity of sports in India in line with globally accepted anti-doping standards.
The framework aligns India’s anti-doping regime with the World Anti-Doping Code and fulfils its commitments under the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport. It provides statutory backing for key anti-doping functions such as testing, results management, investigations, and education, while also enhancing transparency, accountability, and procedural fairness.
The 2025 Amendment further improves governance by strengthening institutional independence and aligning India’s anti-doping practices with evolving international best practices. Overall, the implementation of these Acts reinforces India’s commitment to maintaining a fair, transparent, and athlete-centric sporting ecosystem, ensuring a level playing field for athletes at both national and international levels.
