The NITI Aayog, on July 13, 2026, issued a notification regarding India Bio Economy Roadmap: Vision for Global Bio-Leadership.
The following has been stated: -
•India’s BioEconomy has grown from $10 billion in 2014 to $195.3 billion in 2025, with a vision to reach $691 billion by 2035 and $2.6 trillion by 2047 through the BioE3 Policy.
•The roadmap proposes six National BioMissions covering gene therapies, climate-resilient agriculture, synthetic biology, One Health, marine biotechnology, and next-generation biopharma.
•It recommends creating a ₹50,000-crore BioEconomy Growth Fund, strengthening AI-enabled biotechnology, biomanufacturing, and regulatory reforms to accelerate innovation and commercialization.
•The roadmap also calls for cross-ministerial governance, improved bio-data management, stronger IP protection, and increased public-private investment to drive biotechnology growth.
•It aims to establish India as a global biotechnology leader, generating over 30 million high-value jobs while advancing healthcare, sustainability, food security, and economic growth.
