The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on July 16, 2026, notified the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2026, further to amend the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016.
The following has been stated: -
•In Schedule I, in the Table, against S.No. 16, under the heading ‘‘Processes’’ in column (2), ‘‘Production of caustic soda and chlorine’’, in column (3), the entry, ‘‘16.3 Brine sludge’’ shall be omitted.
They shall come into force on July 20, 2026.
