The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on July 20, 2026, under the powers conferred by the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), 2023, has invited applications for allocation of Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) under the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) for the calendar year 2026. The application window will remain open from July 21, 2026 to August 4, 2026.
The TRQ allocation covers specified categories of motor vehicles imported as Completely Built Units (CBUs), including passenger vehicles with varying engine capacities (up to 1500 cc, 1500–3000 cc, and above 3000 cc for petrol and diesel variants) and goods transport vehicles (excluding electric and hydrogen fuel vehicles). The quota quantities have been prescribed separately based on engine capacity segments and vehicle categories.
Imports under this TRQ will be governed by the procedures outlined in Annexure VII of Appendix 2A of the FTP, 2023, as referenced in Public Notice No. 19/2026-27 dated July 9, 2026. This initiative facilitates controlled imports under the India-UK CETA framework while ensuring adherence to established trade procedures.
