The Ministry of Communications, on July 20, 2026, issued a notification regarding Telecommunication Equipment Standards under the Telecommunications Act, 2023.
The following has been stated: -
•The Central Government has notified eight new standards for telecommunication equipment under the Telecommunications Act, 2023 and the Telecommunications (Framework to Notify Standards, Conformity Assessment and Certification) Rules, 2025.
•The standards cover areas such as 5G Dual Core, Small Size 5G Core, Fixed Wireless Access Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), WLAN Interworking, route tracers for armoured optical fibre cables, SPAD detectors, and Passive Optical Network OTDR for FTTH applications.
•These standards prescribe the technical and testing requirements for specified telecom equipment.
•The notification comes into effect from July 20, 2026.
