The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) on July 21, 2026, issued a notification regarding approval of India's First Dengue Vaccine, Qdenga.
The following has been stated: -
•The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has granted marketing authorisation for Qdenga®, India's first approved dengue vaccine, for the prevention of dengue in individuals aged 4 to 60 years.
•The approval follows a comprehensive evaluation of the vaccine's quality, safety, and efficacy under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Drugs Rules, 1945.
•Qdenga® is a live, attenuated tetravalent dengue vaccine administered in two doses, three months apart, and is already approved in 42 countries with WHO prequalification.
•The approval is expected to strengthen India's dengue prevention strategy alongside existing vector control, surveillance, and case management measures.
