Industry Specific ComplianceThe Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on July 20, 2026, has notified the Telecommunications (Authorisation for Telecommunication Network) Rules, 2026 under the Telecommunications Act, 2023.

The following has been stated:

The rules establish the framework for grant, renewal, transfer, surrender and revocation of authorisations for establishing, operating, maintaining and expanding telecommunication networks. They prescribe eligibility criteria, application procedures, authorisation categories, reporting and compliance obligations, validity periods, and conditions relating to overlapping authorisations, transfer, migration, and recovery of dues. The Rules also provide for different categories of network authorisations, including infrastructure providers, digital connectivity infrastructure providers, internet exchange points, satellite earth station gateways, cloud-hosted telecommunication networks, and mobile number portability providers.
