The Ministry of Labour and Employment on July 21, 2026, has constituted a new Central Advisory Board under Section 42 of the Code on Wages, 2019, superseding the earlier notification dated January 29, 2019. The Board will advise the Central Government on matters relating to wages and implementation of the Code.
The reconstituted Board is chaired by the Union Minister for Labour and Employment and comprises:
• Independent Members, including senior officials from the Ministries of Labour & Employment and MSME.
• Representatives from State Governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Assam.
• Employers’ Representatives from industry bodies such as Laghu Udyog Bharti, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), and the Council of Indian Employers (AIOE).
• Employees’ Representatives from major trade unions and worker organisations, including Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA), and United Trade Union Congress (UTUC).
The notification came into effect on July 21, 2026.
