The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), on July 22, 2025, issued Operation Circular No. 01/2025 prescribing the procedure for conducting viva/oral examinations for the issuance of Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) under the Indian Aircraft Rules, 1937. The circular supersedes all previous DGCA instructions on the conduct of ATPL viva/oral examinations.
The circular provides a standardized process covering eligibility after qualifying the written examination, forwarding of eligible candidates by the Central Examination Organization (CEO), constitution of examination boards by the Flight Standards Directorate (FSD), scheduling through the Pariksha Portal, issuance of admit cards, and conduct of oral examinations. It also specifies that board members must hold a valid DGCA-issued ATPL, while candidates employed with scheduled airlines will generally be examined by boards comprising members from their respective airlines.
The circular further prescribes procedures for attendance recording, result verification, entry of marks in the Pariksha Portal, and declaration of results by the CEO after approval by the competent authority, with the objective of ensuring a transparent and uniform examination process for ATPL applicants.
