The Government of Bihar on July 22, 2026, issued the Bihar Gambling (Prohibition) Bill, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•The bill strictly prohibits playing games of chance and operating common gaming houses across physical, electronic, and online platforms in Bihar.
•Engaging in public gambling or running gaming houses carries penalties, including imprisonment up to three to five years and substantial financial fines.
•Online gambling and utilizing bank accounts, digital wallets, or electronic means to facilitate gambling activities are explicit offenses under the law.
•Provisions are included to hold company directors and officers accountable, as well as punish individuals who refuse to reveal their identity to law enforcement.
