The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW)on July 13, 2026, notified the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) (Fifth Amendment) Order, 2026, further to amend the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003.
The following has been stated: -
•The amendment revises Schedule VI by adding Durio zibethinus (Durian) under Serial No. 128, permitting the import of durian fruits for consumption from Vietnam.
•The notification specifies that no additional phytosanitary declarations in the Phytosanitary Certificate and no special import conditions are required for these imports.
It shall come into force on July 28, 2026.
