The Ministry of Electronics & IT (MEITY) on July 22, 2026, notified regarding the Removal of Unauthorised E-Rickshaw Battery Management Applications and Strengthening of the National Cybersecurity Framework.
The following has been stated:
• The Government ordered the removal of unauthorised Battery Management System (BMS) mobile applications from app stores after reports indicated that such apps were being misused to remotely control e-rickshaw batteries without authorisation.
• The Government has also strengthened cybersecurity and digital resilience through an integrated national framework involving the National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC), CERT-In, the National Cyber Coordination Centre (NCCC), and the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC).
• These mechanisms support coordinated cyber threat detection, incident response, protection of critical information infrastructure, and information-sharing among government agencies and stakeholders.
• Consumer protection is further supported under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, while the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) project promotes cybersecurity awareness, cyber hygiene, and capacity building across the country.
