Labour ComplianceThe Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions on July 14, 2026, notified regarding the closure of Central Government Offices and Special Casual Leave for Bye-Elections in Bihar, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

It states that based on the Election Commission of India's notification, instructions have been issued regarding the bye-elections to three Assembly Constituencies in Bihar, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, scheduled to be held on July 30, 2026. In accordance with DoPT's Office Memorandum dated October 10, 2001, Central Government Offices, including Industrial Establishments, located in the notified polling areas shall remain closed on the day of polling. 

For bye-elections, only employees who are bona fide voters in the concerned Assembly Constituencies shall be granted Special Casual Leave to cast their votes. The benefit is also extended to employees who are registered voters in the relevant constituency but are employed in Central Government organizations or industrial establishments located outside the constituency.
