Labour ComplianceThe Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu on July 20, 2026, has issued draft Code on Wages (Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu) Rules, 2026 under the Code on Wages, 2019, following the enforcement of the Code’s provisions by the Central Government. Earlier, draft rules were published in November 2023 for public consultation, inviting objections and suggestions as required under the law.

The newly proposed draft rules are framed under Section 67 of the Code and aim to consolidate and modernize wage-related regulations in the UT. They will replace multiple existing rules, including those related to minimum wages and payment of wages that were previously applicable separately in Dadra & Nagar Haveli and in Daman & Diu. However, past actions taken under the old rules will remain valid.

The notification emphasizes that these draft rules are being published for public information and stakeholder feedback. The administration will consider the draft after 45 days from the date of publication in the Official Gazette, allowing sufficient time for consultation.

Stakeholders, including individuals and organizations, are invited to submit objections or suggestions in a prescribed format, specifying the rule to be modified and proposed changes with reasons. These submissions can be sent to the Labour Department authorities in writing or via email, and all feedback received within the stipulated period will be reviewed before finalizing the rules.
