The Ministry of Ayush on July 31, 2026, notified regarding the Implementation of AYUSH Quality Mark.
The following has been stated:
• The Ministry highlighted that the AYUSH Drug Quality and Production Promotion Scheme (AOGUSY), with a budget of ₹122 crore, is supporting the upgradation of drug testing laboratories, promotion of WHO-GMP and NABL standards, and strengthening regulatory infrastructure. During FY 2025–26, financial assistance was provided to three State Drug Testing Laboratories. The Ministry also noted that the WHO Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (COPP) has been extended to Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani (ASU) medicines to facilitate exports.
• The Ministry further informed that the AYURGYAAN Scheme, through its Ayurveda Biology Integrated Health Research (ABIHR) component, has approved 11 collaborative research projects to scientifically validate Ayurvedic medicines and formulations. It also emphasized ongoing regulatory measures under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, including mandatory compliance with pharmacopoeial standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), regular quality testing by drug inspectors, strengthening of 34 State/UT Drug Testing Laboratories, approval of 118 private AYUSH drug testing laboratories, and promotion of international quality standards through initiatives such as the AYUSH Standard Mark, AYUSH Premium Mark, and ISO standardization for Ayurveda and Yoga.
• The Ministry clarified that no proposals have been received from Odisha, including Kandhamal, for establishing specialized AYUSH research units.
