Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on July 31, 2026, issued notification on Consolidation of Supervisory Instructions – Repeal of Circulars.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a follow-up communication to its press release dated July 31, 2026 regarding the release of 64 Consolidated Directions under the Department of Supervision (DoS). These Directions compile all relevant supervisory instructions issued by the DoS as well as those from erstwhile departments whose functions have now been integrated into DoS.

As part of this consolidation exercise, outdated and redundant instructions have been removed to streamline the regulatory framework. Consequently, 628 earlier circulars listed in the annex—either merged into the new Directions or deemed obsolete—have been repealed with immediate effect.

However, the RBI has clarified that any actions already taken or initiated under the repealed circulars will remain valid and continue to be governed by the provisions of those earlier instructions. This ensures continuity and legal certainty while transitioning to the updated consolidated regulatory framework.
