Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Communications on July 31, 2026, notified the Post Office (Sixth Amendment) Regulations, 2026, further to amend the Post Office Regulations, 2024.

The following has been stated: -

•The Post Office Regulations, 2024 have been amended to introduce the India Post Parcel Last Mile service for bulk and corporate customers, enabling local parcel delivery through designated delivery offices, parcel hubs, or parcel processing centres under an agreement with the Department of Posts. 

•The service includes proof of delivery, insurance, cash on delivery, and other value-added facilities on payment of applicable fees, with postage based on the higher of volumetric or gross weight and a maximum parcel weight of 5 kg. 

•The amendment also revises the tariff structures for India Post Parcel (Retail and Contractual) and Speed Post Parcel (Retail and Contractual) services, while introducing a new tariff table specifically for the Last Mile service. 

•GST will continue to be levied as applicable, and compensation provisions applicable to India Post Parcel will also extend to the Last Mile service.

They shall come into force on August 01, 2026.
