The Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) on July 30, 2026, issued a notification regarding Semiconductor Talent Development under Semicon 2.0.
The following has been stated: -
•The Government has adopted a comprehensive roadmap under the Semicon India Programme and Semicon 2.0 to build a skilled semiconductor workforce across chip design, fabrication, and advanced packaging.
•Key initiatives include the Chips to Startup (C2S) programme, SMART Labs, AICTE curriculum reforms, and specialised training centres, resulting in over 1 lakh engineers trained, 68,000 professionals skilled in chip design, and 175 chip designs taped out.
•The Government has also partnered with industry leaders and international universities to enhance research, certification, internships, and workforce development.
•Additionally, Semicon 2.0, with an outlay of ₹1.275 lakh crore, includes dedicated support for semiconductor research, innovation, and talent development.
