The National Mineral Exploration and Development Trust (NMEDT), under the Ministry of Mines on August 03, 2026, is inviting applications from eligible entities to be appointed as a Designated Agency (DA) under its Overseas Mineral Exploration Promotion Guidelines (OMEPG).
Background: OMEPG was created to encourage Indian companies to explore for minerals in foreign countries, aiming to strengthen India's mineral supply chains and cut reliance on imports.
Role of the Designated Agency (DA):
Manage the Overseas Mineral Exploration Fund (OMEF)
Raise additional funding from international capital markets
Provide financial support to Exploration Agencies (EAs) carrying out the actual exploration work
Ensure compliance with "bring-back" obligations (i.e., ensuring minerals/benefits explored overseas are eventually brought back to benefit India)
