The final rules have been notified after considering objections and suggestions received on the draft rules published on April 6, 2026.
The Rules consolidate the State's framework governing occupational safety, health and working conditions by replacing the corresponding rules framed under eight erstwhile labour laws, including the Factories Act, 1948, Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970, Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996, Inter-State Migrant Workmen Act, 1979, Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961, Plantation Labour Act, 1951, Dock Workers Act, 1986, and Beedi and Cigar Workers Act, 1966.
The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Andhra Pradesh) Rules, 2026 extend to the entire State of Andhra Pradesh and will come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. They provide the regulatory framework for implementing the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 within the State.
