Commercial ComplianceThe Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on August 07, 2026, notified the Central Motor Vehicles (Twelfth Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.

The following has been stated: -

•CMVR, 1989 has been amended to exclude load-body covering systems fitted on tippers and dumpers from overall vehicle height measurement.

•From April 01, 2027, all tippers and dumpers must have an operated load-body covering system to fully enclose the load while on roads.

•The covering system may use suitable material and must be equipped with an audio-visual alert in the driver’s cabin for an open or unsecured cover during movement.

They shall come into force on August 10, 2026.
