The Government of Maharashtra on August 07, 2026, issued a notification regarding amendments in the Maharashtra Mathadi, Hamal and other Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment & Welfare) Act, 1969.
The following has been stated: -
•The notification explicitly excludes building and other construction work from the operations covered under Item No. 1 of the Schedule.
•Item No. 5 is updated to exclude both building/construction work and activities related to shifting houses or offices.
•Item No. 15 is substituted to cover employment in metal (excluding iron/steel) and paper markets or shops for manual tasks, while excluding construction work.
•The amendments take effect following the mandatory three-month advance notice period required by Section 26 of the Act.
