Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Maharashtra on July 22, 2026, issued a notification regarding Aadhaar Authentication for Construction Workers Welfare Board Services.

The following has been stated: -

•The Labour Department of Maharashtra enabled voluntary Aadhaar authentication to establish identity for construction workers during registration, renewal, and smart ID issuance, as well as for their family members to prevent duplicate entries and departmental staff for creating a centralized beneficiary database.

•Under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016, and Good Governance Rules, 2020, explicit consent must be obtained from individuals prior to authentication.

•The notification guarantees that Aadhaar verification remains strictly voluntary, ensuring no beneficiary is denied services for opting out.

•For individuals who choose not to undergo online Aadhaar authentication, alternative viable identification methods are permitted, including offline XML/QR codes, government-issued photo ID documents (such as Voter ID, PAN, Passport, or Driving License), demographic verification, and other approved identification modes.

The detailed notification is given in the document below.
