Commercial ComplianceThe Government of Maharashtra, on July 22, 2026, notified the Maharashtra Industrial Development (Amendment) Act, 2026, amending the Maharashtra Industrial Development Act, 1961. The Act is deemed to have come into force from June 16, 2026, replacing the earlier Amendment Ordinance promulgated on the same date.

The amendment revises Section 22(2) of the principal Act by increasing the borrowing limit of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) from ₹75 crore to ₹6,000 crore. This substantial enhancement is intended to strengthen MIDC's financial capacity to raise funds for industrial infrastructure and development projects across the State.

The Act also repeals the Maharashtra Industrial Development (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, while providing a saving clause to ensure that all actions, notifications and orders issued under the Ordinance are deemed to have been validly made under the amended Act.
